From Liz (Lisa):
"I realize "happy anniversary" isn't the correct way to tell you how to celebrate today, but I'm hoping it will be a day to focus on the joy that your marriage and all those years together with Russ brought to your life. He would want that for you today, as he wanted you to carry on without him, and find new paths to joy and contentment and fulfillment in your life. Think about how amazing it is that you found each other, at the right moment in time, and had the chance to share a life together. About your adventures, big and small, about toasts to the day. About linen napkins and napkin rings and college chairs and Poughkeepsie and Wiggers Toy store. Mountains in Vermont, sunshine in Colorado. About those 4 amazing grandchildren who came into your lives. About struggles with teenagers, terrible falls and wonderful recoveries. Trips to Europe, drawing and hiking, skiing and the places with water views. About going to bed at night and waking up together for all those 44+ years, and how lucky you were to have those years. Celebrating bluebird skies, which should always bring a smile to your heart. About knowing that Russ may be gone, but his love will surround you for the rest of your life, that he is always with you.
And I send my love because you are the sister of my heart, and I care so much about you, and want your life to be one that moves forward in peace and love. (and maybe he and all our beloveds are raising a glass to toast the fortune of finding love and cherishing it every day)."
Thank you Liz. You made my day. My heart is full.
