Do you do lofty New Year's resolutions? Is this year different for you? Are you thinking more about gratitude? Are you thinking about 'the other guy' more than you are thinking about yourself? Probably many of us will be harvesting bright spots from our past year in the midst of the pandemic. There has to be some treasure there for us to celebrate!
Oh the pandemic... it has definitely served as a visceral reminder that the unexpected can land right in our path, forcing us to reflect and adjust. On one hand it may have seemed as though life halted, but it didn't, it was just different. It literally forced us to search for peace and goodness in ourselves and those in our immediate lives. With that as our 2020 year, the year of social distancing, jobs lost, home schooling and emotional turmoil, it makes getting a fresh start in 2021 super appealing.
Those lofty resolutions can be set aside for this year and instead of the typical diet, more exercise, or a financial overhaul, I think we should try something a little different, something simple, something easy to remember. I have hung the above quote encouraging kindness, patience, and compassion on the wall in my walk in closet. Some people I know have decided to pick one word and try to 'live' that word with integrity every single day.
