They all came from Russ' mother Helen. I could barely cook when Russ and I married. I was good for Mac and Cheese, hamburgs and a roast chicken. I could 'cook' frozen French fires to perfection, but had no clue how to actually make them. Pie crust was from the freezer section; a sad, but true tale.
Russ inspired me to learn to cook. He and the kids would eat absolutely anything I came up with and I am sure everyone is grateful I improved!
The graters are my all time favorite. I don't care for those modern boxy graters. I am not certain why, but I always nick my finger when using those. Besides, the small, medium, large options are perfect!
Russ loves egg salad. This baby is 'solid' and it slices 4 ways, a fabulous gadget.
And then there is the hooked grapefruit knife. It does the individual sections in minutes.
All these vintage wonders are probably from the 1930s or '40s. It makes cooking fun to have a pieces of history included in the recipe.
