We are reading a book aloud. HGTV is on at our house ALL the time. We have followed Chip & Joanna, the Property Brothers and are now being entertained and inspired by Ben & Erin. The thing we love about that show is that it is 'the old Russ'. We named our house in Bayfield 'The Resurrection', raising it's status for 'bomb drop' (our personal term for a dump) to a home filled with love and creativity. We did it all in Ben & Erin style, repurposing as much of the material as possible. Russ did that not only for financial reasons, but for creativity. We have never been keep up with the Jones' type of people, preferring to live life on our terms.
Here are just a few of his repurposing pieces in our Bayfield house:
A favorite of mine is a piece of decking from Russ' Navy ship, the John W. Weeks. They were throwing it out, so he rescued it thinking he could make something from it when he returned stateside. He refinished it and it became our coffee table until just recently. When he and his chair could no longer navigate a coffee table it became wall art. I LOVE it! |
