noun
- a fundamental change in approach or underlying assumptions.
Yesterday, as I stood watch, occasionally adding bits to the pile, I pondered the paradigm shift we are about to embrace as we move into Durango. In our 38 years together we have never had neighbors We have always been able to look out our windows into the face of nature. As I stood over the fire yesterday I mourned a bit… no more spring clean up like I have known it. In my few hours of work many raven flew over head, the sound of their flight audible. I am always amazed with their ability to twist among the ponderosa pine branches with complete accuracy and then alight upon a branch with such slow grace.
Yesterday, the fire, the raven, the bunny, the majority of our meadow now free of snow, the many tangible signs of spring, and the returning bird sounds were all pieces that will vanish. That is not bad, but most definitely a shift in how life unfolds for us. We will have a 'new normal' as they say. I have always considered this house our peaceable kingdom. Walking out our door, here in the woods, IS peace.
Our tomorrows will be different, the paradigm shift unfolds. We aren't sure at this point what that will look like, but I am fairly certain, my spring cleaning joy of yesterday will not be a part of the picture. I always say, home is where you make it and we will again 'make a home' in a new place and adjust to the paradigm shift sharing new joys with one another.
