It sounds crazy to my ears, but...
precious life - share the care -
why do we think we have failed
if we ask for help
why is it
that for the vast majority of our lives
we only see the immediate
we miss the gift
of time
of the joy in knowing
the truth
of our inner soul
and what really matters
life is precious
it has a beginning and an end
life and death
we are not meant to walk it alone
we are not meant to be here forever
you don’t need answers
or even to feel knowing and comfortable
but
is someone in your life struggling
you can breathe life back into the caregiver
or your friend, sibling, or family member
just by being there
by being a faithful friend
by being there in the inconvienience
run towards the suffering rather than away
if you don’t know what to say
it matters not
just ‘be’
sidle up
show up
not with perfect words or solutions
but by being fully present
in the uniqueness and unpredictability
in the reality of loss
in their time of need
be there
just be there
to honor precious life
I have been with many caregivers (both former and current) recently and if there is one guidepost applicable to all, it is life is precious.
