Big brother Andrew/Andy/Drew arrives on Friday. I am so excited. We have lived here 15 years and he has not seen our beauty, our reason for staying. I am excited to share our reality with he and Steph. Sibling bonds are huge; hard to describe. You know how it is... a sibling relationship can be one of life's longest relationships, longer than parents or spouse!
Siblings are a comfort; I love every one of mine! Even though we are all so different, it doesn't matter. Andy is the smart one, I always call him the family over-achiever, the guy who looks out for everyone. That is partially because he is the oldest and partially because he was thrown into that role at a young age. I have always been the chatty one, Andy analytical. Me? A social butterfly, all about social engagement while Andy was our the honor student, serious and making sure all was 'correct'.
I speak with all my siblings often, but not weekly. Andy has a very busy life, but still, I know he us there for me should I need advise or a listener or just a chat. It's a comfort.
I am looking forward to this visit so much.
I read that "that elderly men with sisters seem to be more emotionally secure than those without sisters. The supportive benefits of this relationship were not dependent on how often the siblings interacted -- it was their existence and availability that mattered most." I will have to ask Andy if that's true. Whatever the case, I am excited to share my world with he and Steph.
