Today the shortened wall got sheet rocked on the kitchen side. They also worked on the new ceiling look which also got sheet rocked. I am very excited about that! Our house has gone through many remodels since it was built in 1980 and there were/are some unusual 'glitches'. One was the transition from the dining room ceiling to the kitchen. The ceiling line just stopped! The textures were different. It looked like the easy cheap way was taken. Now we have the opportunity to change that and the guys came up with a wonderful solution: extended soffits over the counters that will have the can lights and soffits at both end which will visually 'close in' the kitchen.
They also did the less than glamorous job of some plumbing. Here in Colorado most people have crawl spaces vs. cellars. Our crawl space is not a job you want to be tagged with. Dirt floor, you have to crawl and in this case the 'job site' was on the far side of the house from the entrance, a long crawl. Ingenuity and self preservation took over… they cut a hole in the floor and slipped down to do the work.
The flooring photo was just for fun. That special piece of flooring was buried under layers of other flooring. It is a dull brown and reminds me of dinosaur toe nails… and old dinosaur at that!
