Russ carries a phone for safety now so he can make a call if he gets in trouble. But he misplaced it yesterday and having looked through the house decided it must be in the car. He headed to the car shed. Tight spaces throw him off and the space between the jeep and the wall 'got him' yesterday. He fell, got a good case of facial road rash and couldn't get up. The exact scenario where a phone is needed! No phone to call for help and it took some time to edge his way to a spot where he could lever himself up.
That is just one example of his recent crash and burn difficulties. His neurologist says "I don't really think that any med adjustments are going to make a significant difference. I think we are facing the progression of Russ's disease." We each do know and acknowledge that Parkinson's is a progressive disease with no cure. Perhaps having small reprieves before each onslaught of change keeps us sane and adjusting to the lessening control of movement.
I work with a couple of people who process their thoughts by talking through it. I process in writing. In the case of Parkinson's it helps to write things down, giving voice to worry and not holding it in. It sometimes evens helps me solve a problem or find other ways to look at a situation.
