I begin this vacation exhausted so if you want to read the pretty version of my grateful thanks, please read LAST November 11, 2015 entry titled Gratitude. I had energy then.
Now? I am just exhausted...
I am SO ready for some family time with no work, medical or moving agendas for 5 whole days! Last week at work our computer server and all staff computers were hit with a ransom virus. NOT pretty. We lost 100,000 files, or some such insane number. It meant my week was recreating copy. It was exhausting and each staff member has felt the pain of lost files.
At home I continue packing, organizing, planning. Then with the Estancia house comes unpacking, schlepping, and dreaming. All this with LOTS of paper signing at the realtor office, Wells Fargo investment office, and Alpine Bank.
It is juggling emotions minute by minute. How do you handle sleepless nights and far too much going on during your day? I told Russ at breakfast the other morning "Honey, I am hoping I will be far less cranky once we move..."
Today. This very moment. Now.
• The anticipation of Furtsch family time
• One on one Matt time
• The sun seeping through the trees in the early morning light
• Heading to church to hear Alan give his first sermon at FUMC
(note: He was amazing! He reminded us that our grateful thanks should be directed to/at/for God.)
• Having a game plan for the new kitchen set-up
• Knowing I will be able to use the porch swing at the Estancia house year round...simple pleasures
• Waking in a toasty warm home. With cities now beginning to ban homelessness ! it astonishes me to
think that some people believe the homeless 'choose' to live on the streets.
• I am grateful for my experiential background, allowing me to make responsible decisions
• The gentle quiet of early morning hours
• An early morning text ding from Matt
• Being a witness to Russ’ amazing proactive focus on exercise
• The music that gentles our day; always on
• The amazing number of people who have offered to help us as we move... I am humbled beyond words
• Russ' willingness to accept help, but not expect it; to accept it for his safety and my sanity
• The smell of a fresh outdoor morning
• #10 Blue Bird Colorado days....ahhhhhhh
• The caw of a raven twisting and gliding through our woods
• The grace so many show me as I walk through my day
Come, Ye Thankful People, Come
Come, ye thankful people, come,
Raise the song of harvest home!
All is safely gathered in,
Ere the winter storms begin;
God, our Maker, doth provide
For our wants to be supplied;
Come to God's own temple, come;
Raise the song of harvest home!
This song has been a part of my life since childhood, sung in church year after year. It is a reminder as I raise my voice that friends, family and acquaintances all make my life better and in turn I want to make others lives better. Enthusiasm breeds enthusiasm. Pay it forward. Be the example. Bless Others. Be Blessed.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING. I give thanks for you.
...and in case you're wondering, last year's thoughts where far more eloquent.
