good-byes due to Parkinson’s Disease. This last year was heartbreaking and he constantly amazed me with his stregth. He did this journey his way and I am so proud of him! The seismic shifts Parkinson’s brought into our lives has been a challenge for each of us, but together we were able to move forward with dignity. We ‘circled the wagons’ with family, friends, palliative care and hospice and all walked us through these last months. Sadness reigned, but we learned to look for the gifts of life and love in each day.
He said: “Don’t cry because I am gone, sing because I was here”.
Do not pray for easy lives; pray to be stronger men and women.
Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers; pray for powers equal to your tasks.
Then, the doing of your work will be no miracle; you will be the miracle.
Every day you will wonder at yourself and the richness of the life which has come to you by the grace of God.
You Linda, you are the miracle.
Amen
That prayer has carried me through the last year. That and the strength Russ showed every single day as he adjusted to lessening mobility.
You Russ, you were the miracle!
