"Happy Anniversary. Not to make any of you feel old, but 53 years ago we became a family. I am so very grateful for you all and the amazing family that we have grown into over the years. Having such wonderful, supportive and loving sisters and brothers has enriched my life in every way. So thanks for being there, for sharing the adventure that has been the last 53 years, for the wonderful memories, the laughter and the love, as well as the tears and fears. We are strong because of who we are and where we came from and I am proud to be a part of the "Liston/Bock Family". I love you all, Lisa"
First of all, I love the sentiment. Our parents married and then there were six.
The six of us make up a menagerie of personalities... quiet, witty, outgoing, chatty, brillient, nurturing, strong willed, adventursome; an endless list of differences, ultimately coming together in loving strength, family. We live all over the US; we sometimes talk often and other times no word, text or email for months. But we are family, we are there for each other.
It is hard to describe, but there is such comfort in family. I find great peace knowing the other five will answer my call. It is knowing they'll always listen. The endless mix of personality means that at any given time growing up I might have been a protector or a tormentor. I may have envied or glowed with pride. I may have counseled or been counseled. These amazing 5 helped me learn to deal with conflict, make friends and share. These amazing 5 shared their personal 'gifts' to broaden my life, to help me to see so many ways to 'do life' and it didn't always have to be my way.
Andy, Lisa, Nan, Ron and Pete share life with me. They have showered me with lessons of patience and acceptance. What could be better than that... 5 best friends.
