Over the years I have experimented with all butter, all Crisco or half and half. I have experimented with all white sugar, all brown sugar or half and half. I have tried 1 egg or two. I never actually made more than one version at a time so when I came upon this visual I thought it was great. It brought clarity to the many variations.
Seriously, they are gone in minutes of being placed there. What is so special about them? Why does everyone rush to my desk when they hear Marlene has left us cookies? I mean, chocolate chip cookies are classic and have been made generation after generation. Do you use the same recipe Grandma made or have you found your own perfection?

- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 tsp. water

- Bake at 350 for about 14 minutes until lightly browned. Leave on tray for a minute before removing.
I am fairly certain that all bakers have their favorite recipe. I did too until I watched the procession of folks rushing to my desk for their Marlene cookie fix. I often make a double batch and freeze most of them so I have them on the spur of the moment to comfort or thank people. A homemade cookie goes a long way to say 'you matter'. They have been given to neighbors, construction workers, our care people here at home, friends who have stopped by and of course Russ.
Try them. You'll love them.
