Now for the second step...area by area, remove the pile, dust the space, polish the space and begin with a fresh start. I can do this! I want to be able to walk in the office and not feel stress or tension, subliminal or otherwise. I want to walk in and feel glad I have such an inviting space, inspiring me to create and connect.
When we moved into this house, we had had an auction and eliminated about half of our belongings. The kitchen in this house is the ultimate treat. I open a cupboard and see everything, I do not have peer into the darkness searching. I do not have to move things or reach into the recesses for that ingredient I 'know' is there.
How can I accomplish this? Here is my plan:
- I will tackle one space at a time. Perhaps the pile under the printer or the pile to the right of my computer mouse.
- My go to cleaning strategy is to put on some music, decided how many songs to listen to before I allow myself stop or take a break... ready, set, go.
- I am absolutely certain there are bits and pieces I 'thought' I needed to save and are now so old that and forgotten that their time has come.... into the trash.
- If something is sentimental I will reserve it on the side for re-evaluation at the end of the cleaning and organizing frenzy, either finding a place on my desk or storing elsewhere...like our Christmas card from two years ago... keep or store?
NOTE: I WILL get there, but I confess I have not cleaned up my desk area yet. I have been obsessed with getting Russ' quilt finished. I will begin the binding today and with almost 300 inches of teeny tiny stitches to make, that may take a week or two. Hopefully the desk clean-up begins immediately after that. I promise to do it!
