Speaking of which… you may think you are eating healthy when you eat yogurt, but check out the sugar content, it's staggering in even those promoted as wholesome, healthy and organic! In one container of yogurt you can be eating 2 or 3 times your sugar quota for the day. My new favorite yogurt is Siggi's. It has the least amount of sugar of any yogurt in our markets.
But back to this post... here is a high content sugar recipe. I never make it just for us because it has far too much sugar. I do make it when there will be others around to help eat it. And I usually choose the jiffy approach, i.e. boxed dates rather than fresh. Fresh dates are on my shopping list almost every week, they are amazing nibbles and are perfect in granola. But for this recipe the quick and easy works.
Bakery Lane Soup Bowl was a restaurant in Middlebury, VT in the 70's and a favorite place of mine. It was soups (obviously), sandwiches and baked treats. I have the cookbook, all tattered, written in and loved, a bit like the Velveteen Rabbit if you get the connection.
