What would you think if this envelope came to your box? I could not place the name. Kathie? Colorado? I know a Kathie in Colorado, but the last name stymied me. I opened it. It began with a quote:
Dear Linda,
I will begin by solving the mystery of the unknown return address: I am Marj's daughter. Since you gave me your card in May when I was visiting Mom in Durango, I added you to the bloggers whose sites I visit from time to time. Yesterday I was looking for a good new recipe and thought I'd see if you could offer me any inspiration. Oh, My. Gosh. Your recent post about your foiled trip to watch you grandson graduate was... well... I truly can't think of an appropriate adjective to describe it. Heartbreaking? Poignant? Riveting? All of the above? I couldn't read what you shared and not respond in some way.
The above mene is copied from something one of my nieces posted on her Facebook page a while back. It made me laugh when I saw it and I remember thinking at the time, "This should be on a greeting card." I love the comfort implied in the words and wanted to bring them to life in a tangible way.
❤️ Please consider this note a *virtual* hug that I will make good on in person the next time in Durango.
❤️The Starbuck's card speaks for itself.
❤️I wish there were more zeros following the $1 on the check, but at least it's a start toward paying off those unexpected expenses.
The way you model such love, gratitude, and graciousness in trying circumstances inspires me. Thank you for sharing your journey with such honesty and openness.
With love, Kathie
Holy smokes. Can you imagine my shock when I read that letter? I had just sent out our Parkinson"s group meeting notes and one comment was to share your reality with others. I have been witness repeatedly to how others want to walk along side someone who is hurting, or someone reaching out to a friend in need. Kathie came along side me today, an unknown friend gracing me with kindness, support and strength. I have perhaps spoken to Kathie a total of 10 minutes. I know her only as Marl's wonderful and supportive daughter. Is she not an angel, looking out for others; making so many feel understood and cared for. Thank you dear lady!!!! You made my heart sing today.
