We are 'doing' a 100 day real food challenge. It is 'mostly' how we eat anyway, but the sugar is a real struggle. Not because we eat lots of sweets, but because it is in EVERYTHING! The challenge says honey or pure maple syrup. When I make sweets I always divide them up in baggies and freeze so when we 'need' a cookie I just take a couple out.
Did you know there is sugar in vinegar? Do you know how to read labels? Do you know that common "food dyes are derived from petroleum, a crude-oil non-food product that also happens to be in gasoline, diesel fuel, asphalt, and tar." Did you know that the average person eats 130 pounds of ADDED sugar per year! Must say we are doing pretty good. No fast food (easy), 5 ingredients or less on a label and be able to read them (harder), only maple sugar or honey (hard… I mean look at your crackers!), know where your meat comes from (easy) and no deep fried food (easy). So we have our small struggles, but what's a hundred days to eat with mindfulness.
OK… this was all to procrastinate and learn the slide show feature on Weebly so when we get into destruction / construction I can post lots of pictures on one day. Cookies are done, Russ is up…. time to pack some more.
